Dear all,
I feel extremely happy and excited to share with you about the Software Freedom Day event held in Shantou University on Sep 19, 2009. Our topic in this year is “Free you mind, open your life”. The event held in this year is more impactive and successful than that held in last year. This year, we still cooperate with the Linux Association of Shantou University, but we have more contributors and our team is much stronger. After the event, more than half of the students in Shantou University know about what is Free and Open Source Software. Please follow me and enjoy this great event.
At noon, we set up a show stand and started posting the leaflets to the passers. This is a group photo of our team.
We posted our leaflets at every aisle in order not to miss even a student.
We tried to answer the questions that some students are interested in and introduce the Free and Open Source Software to them. As you can see, the atmosphere is so hot.
We still distributed some liveCD to the students who registered for us.
In the evening, we held a Software Freedom Day celebration party in our software lab. This party not only introduced FOSS to the participants but also brought the interest of FOSS to them. Every participant enjoyed himself. When you come to the spot, you should be shocked by the hotness of the atmosphere.
At the beginning of the party, we played the open video about FOSS.
After the video, Sun Campus Ambassador Zhong Weipeng gave an introduction on FOSS and Sun support for SFD.
Then, OSUM Leader Yan Liebin Gave an introduction of FOSS history.
The president of Linux Association Deng Yingxuan also made a small speech.
The next part is our game activity. We divided the participants into ten groups and our games include team building, guessing words from lively gesture and questions and answers with awards. The participants are active and the atmosphere is lively.

On Apr. 17th, we held another tech-talk about java algorithms in Room 412 of East Building in Campus Yujiatou, Wuhan University of Technology. The talk was mainly for students in the 3rd and the 2nd grade. There were 39 attendants. The talk lasted for nearly 2 hours. During the talk, several interesting and useful algorithms developed in java were illustrated.
On Apr. 3rd, we held another tech-talk about search engine programming in java in Room 412 of East Building in Campus Yujiatou, Wuhan University of Technology. The talk was mainly for junior students of the 1st and the 2nd grade. Perhaps because the Tomb-sweeping Day was around the corner, there were only 22 attendants. But still everyone present enjoyed it. The talk lasted for nearly 2 hours. During the first one and a half hour, basic knowlege about seach engine and serveral application examples were introduced. And the last half an hour was filled with hot atmosphere of drastic discussion.
On Mar. 18th, we held another tech-talk about Process of Developing Plugins with Netbeans in Room 412 of East Teaching Building in Campus Yujiatou, Wuhan University of Technology. There are 131 attendants. At the beginning of this talk, I placed an introduction about the programming competition of developing plugins with netbeans among the three high schools------Wuhan Universtiy, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan university of Technology.
On Mar. 3rd, we initiated a sun academic talk in Room 221 of Main Teaching Building in Campus Yujiatou, Wuhan University of Technology. There are 40 attendants. The talk was mainly for senior students of the 3rd grade. At the very beginning, I placed an OSUM introduction. During this part I informed everybody present the website http://www.unix-center.net and the details they need to pay attention to while registering. And then, everyone was free to speak out the "opensource" in his/her mind.
9月19日，深圳大学终于迎来了我们自己的自由软件日庆祝沙龙。这个沙龙目的是为了庆祝自由软件在全球取得的胜利，以及在深圳大学宣传自由软件的知识。

什么是 GlassFish 项目？

本次比赛的LiveCD都是在Sun的虚拟机VirtualBox中演示，其中LiveCD的系统中要求附带有浏览器、FTP工具和Sun的OpenOffice办公软件等。

STU OSUM系列讲座新学期第一场: MySQL
主题：Getting Started With MySQL

汕头大学开源技术俱乐部(Shantou University Open Source University Meetup，缩写为STU OSUM)是一个教育学生关于自由与开源软件(Free and Open Source Software，缩写为FOSS)相关知识的校园俱乐部。作为新学期的第一场讲座，我们将以MySQL开源数据库为主题，为大家介绍MySQL的存储引擎、数据类型、JDBC和ODBC、连接池和触发器等知识以及介绍在程序中如何使用MySQL。每位参加讲座的同学都能够获得以下的精美礼品：

讲座流程：
1、MySQL OverView
2、MySQL Architecture（自底向上讲述MySQL的结构其中包括了：存储引擎、数据类型、JDBC和ODBC、连接池、触发器）
3、MySQL的基本操作（连到已设好的MySQL服务器上面进行实际操作）
4、现场用听众演示怎么用NetBeans连接到MySQL，这个步骤以一个demo来讲解。
5、问题时间。听众回答正确每个问题都能获得OpenSolaris短袖T-Shirt一件。
(1)说出除了MySQL以外的两个以上（包含两个）数据库名字。
(2)现场建立一个表（至少有两行两列），并且填表
(3)说出两个以上（包含两个）的存储引擎
(4)就是slides最后的填空题。
安装recordmysolaris之前需要安装OSS，不过我在安装OSS时出了点问题。第一安装OSS成功之后reboot之后提示没有找到声卡。解决办法就是再安装一遍OSS，虽然有点麻烦，但是能解决问题就是好的！
在Google Code上下载到recordmysolaris的pkg文件之后，在终端里su到root权限。然后pkgadd进行安装，如图所示：
接下来是安装包的选择，直接接受默认就可以了。
接下来Y确认安装，如图所示：
安装成功的提示：
运行recordmysolaris只要在终端下输入命令就OK了，好像有图形化的，但是我没去尝试了。

当录制结束时只要在终端下Ctrl+C就可以了，默认会生成out.gov的文件。Windows下暴风影音可以播放。注意：生成的out.gov文件是在你当期的目录下的，如果有已存在out.gov文件会以out-*,gov的顺序进行命名，不会覆盖原文件。
2008年12月22日，天津大学校园大使和南开大学校园大使周璐，张帆携手天津科技大学校学生会在天津科技大学举办了一场名为“Sun开源技术科大行”的开源知识普及讲座。此次是天津科技大学首次举办关于开源技术的讲座，活动现场天津科技大学的同学们十分踊跃。

文件类型+文件所有者权限+文件所属组权限，也就是组内用户的权限+其它用户权限。
一般普通用户创建的文件属性是：-rw-r--r--，就是一个普通文件，创建者拥有读写权限，组用户拥有读权限，其它用户拥有读权限。
修改访问权限
使用chmod命令的绝对模式：
chmod [mode] filename
mode有3个从0到7的数字组成，其顺序是u,g,o就是说分别是用户权限，用户组权限，其它用户权限。
权限关系：
0 无权限 ---
1 执行权限 --x
2 写入权限 -w-
3 执行+写入权限（1+2） -wx
4 读权限 r--
5 读取和执行权限（4+1） r--
6 读取和写入权限（4+2） rw-
7 所有权限 （4+2+1） rwx
所以在很多使用当你遇到权限不足的错误提示的时候，你需要做的是chmod 777 filename。把所有的权限都给它，省得麻烦。如果是目录的话你需要:chmod -R 777 directory

First of all ,I gave a introduction about our OpenSource University Meetup .Introduce OSUM and Unix-Center.net to all participants. I told them this is a good platform for learning and making friends. So, lots of student have interests in it.
Then, I suggested RoboCode which use Java to control robots to attack with other robots. It was the first time for some students to use Java, so I also told them some basic knowledge about Java.
Finally, I answered the students' questions about OpenSource University Meetup, Java and RoboCode .
213 students attended our tech-talk.
Some students suggested that they given more tech-talk about Java and RoboCode. So maybe I will hold another tech-talk about this topic next time. Wish there will be more students attending our Tech-talk.

In the first part, I gave a introduction about our OpenSource University Meetup, OSUM and Unix-Center.net to students. Lots of students have interest in them.
And then, I gave all participants an overview about OpenSolaris2008.11 .Just like : TimeSlider,ZFS,IPS,DDU,Compiz and so on.
Finally, I installed OpenSolaris2008.11 on my laptop, and told them how to use VirtualBox and LiveCD.
In the Q&A part, some students asked me how to get CD. Because I haven't got OpenSolaris2008.11 CD, so I told them I would send them LiveCD next time.
I invited a fellow student of STU OSUM to give a ZFS techtalk for us. The following is the techtalk description.

This Techtalk was to show the design of ZFS and the basic commands to manage ZPool and ZFS. ZFS is brand-new to me. I have tried my best to learn how to administrate ZFS by reading zfsadmin.pdf from Opensolaris.org during the past two months. To explain the design of ZFS, I used pools-and-subpools idea in this techtalk, so that attendees could accept easily. In my plan, I would use an opensolaris installed in VirtualBox to demonstrate those instances, but I was sorry to see that something unexpected happened, some demonstrations met troubles due to my offhand preparation because I had not tested them beforehand. As a matter of fact, I'm not familiar with solaris and I need training. Luckly, the attendees are interested in the storage pool, which satisfies me.

I feel extremely happy and excited to share with you about the event held in Shantou University on Dec 13th, 2008. It is really a wonderful techtalk about JavaFX. The event turned out to be much more successful than that I had expected. The attendees explicitly showed their interest in JavaFX and appreciation of bringing Sun's cutting-edge IT technolgies to our campus. Firstly, I gave a glaring demo written in JavaFX script language. Most of the attendees felt so mysterious about it. After that, I introduced what JavaFX was, why we chose to use JavaFX and how to get start with it. T-shirts and pens were distributed as awards. The attendees enjoyed themselves at that time and showed their great interest in this technology.

我邀请了STU OSUM的一名内部会员和我一起讲Java，以下是他的讲座总结。本次讲座主要是面向大一的学生，向他们介绍Java基本的程序设计结构。讲座的效果很不错，许多学生都觉得这次讲座讲得比较具体，学到的知识也很多。
主题：Java 基本的程序设计结构

2.让大家能简单应用Java的基本知识编写一些简单的程序。让他们初步的感受到编程的乐趣，并能编一些小程序来解决一些简单的问题。
3.让大家进一步的了解Sun公司的产品Netbeans这一IDE软件，并通过这一软件减少编译是出现的语法错误。
4．加深了大家对OSUM的认识。明白这一组织的功能，同时让大家更加关注OSUM、相信OSUM。
不足：
1.缺少互动，在准备课件的时候，没有准备一些简单问题让大家参与其中。同时提出问题是没有考虑题目的难易度，从而使学员没法回答。
2.内容过多，准备课件时没有估计用时。前期内容讲得比较详细，但到后期发现时间有点不足，后面的内容就讲得比较仓促，同时效果也变差了。
3.准备不足，对时间、问题、课件等没有考虑到位。
4.没有考虑大家的基础，在准备课件时，没通过调查自认为大家已经有c语言的基础。
改进:
1.增加互动环节，让大家参与其中。让讲座气氛更加活跃。
2.要多考虑时间方面等问题。让整个讲座在有条不紊的进行，同时也让大家更容易的接受。
3.要事先调查一些大家对哪方面比较感兴趣，对哪方面比较有问题，还有就是要考虑他们本身的基础。
感想：
首先，这是本人第一次讲座。很感谢OSUM给我这一次机会，让我有如此一次难忘的经历。可能是第一次的原因还有就是自己的实力问题，在讲座的过程难免有些紧张。同时也造成讲解不清晰等问题。所以在以后如果还有机会的话，应该做好准备，增进自己的实力。让讲座更加精彩。
